“Joy called me every single week to check in and I remember thinking, ‘Wow, she really cares!’ I was able to lean on her during the really bad times. And I still feel like I can call her with a question or just check in. It’s comforting to know I’ll always have that lifeline.”
Russell Whitten, USFHP Member
Speaking about Joy, his Martin’s Point Nurse Case Manager, who along with Rosemary, our Health Benefit Advisor, supported him through his recovery.
For the second year in a row, Martin’s Point Generations Advantage was the highest rated Medicare Advantage plan in Maine, with a 4.5 out of a possible 5-star rating. This places us in the top 6% of all Medicare Advantage plans across the country. Martin’s Point US Family Health Plan was in the 99th percentile for all National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) evaluated measures compared to the 227 other private health plans in the country that participated in the survey.
“As a case manager, I enjoy being able to assist people in maneuvering through the complex health system. Martin’s Point truly cares about every member and I am delighted to be able to pass that caring on by providing education, advocacy and support.”
Joy Bailey
Nurse Case Manager
Through our health plans, we currently manage benefits for thousands of people, primarily in two distinct groups: US Family Health Plan, a benefits plan for military families and retirees, and Generations Advantage, a plan for Medicare beneficiaries.
We serve as true partners with our members over time, from their first call through their recovery needs. We strive to be both responsive and proactive in helping members find doctors and services and in providing ongoing counseling and support when needed. For example, we call all new Generations Advantage and US Family Health Plan members when they come on board to see if they have any questions about their benefits or their health.
Martin’s Point has received high marks for member satisfaction. As these results are based on surveys of members and comparisons with similar plans, we view them as important benchmarks. Yet the most gratifying rewards come from the personal connections we make every day with our plan members.
Russell Whitten’s life changed forever when he was involved in a tragic accident that severed his leg just below the knee. Russell was suddenly confronted with issues of loss and pain, both emotionally and physically.
To help him find the best prosthetic leg possible, Rosemary McCulloch, our Health Benefit Advisor, helped him navigate through his many medical and insurance needs. She served as a tireless advocate in helping him get the leg he needed to return to the lifestyle that he loved.
Russell was then contacted by our Nurse Case Manager, Joy Bailey, who supported him throughout his road to rehabilitation. Russell describes her as someone who never let him give up.
Russell has inspired all who know him by returning to many of the activities he used to enjoy. He attributes much of his success to the unwavering support and guidance he received from his friends at Martin’s Point. At Martin’s Point, we strive for our patients to have better access to health care services and more time to develop trusted relationships with those providing their care.
